Merry Christmas!

Just wanted to pop in and say a quick Merry Christmas to everyone! While Santa is fun and presents are awesome, let us never forget the REAL reason for the holiday. God Himself, came down to earth and changed the course of history. He humbled Himself and became a lowly human in order to save us from ourselves. Praise His name!

Here are some pictures of our precious gift. Hope they make you smile!

My birth story: Part 3

This is the third part in a series of 3 posts. To read part 1, go here. To read part 2, go here.

Tuesday, February 12, 2013. I was exactly 37 weeks pregnant. I woke up feeling great. I had just had my baby shower on Saturday and was excited about washing all of the baby's new things and organizing his room. I had my usual testing today at 10:30am that would probably last about an hour and then I would get to work. I lay cozy in bed contemplating my day, not really wanting to get up.

10 am. I finally get out of bed. I don't have enough time for a shower. It's ok. I'll just take one when I get back. I don't even have time to make the bed (which, by the way, was the beginning of the end of that habit...). My dad would be by to take me to my appointment any minute. You see, we only had (and still have) one car that my husband used to drive to work about one hour away, so my dad and aunt would usually take me to my appointments. I hurriedly get ready, grab a piece of toast and oj, and rush out the door.

My birth story: Part 2

This is the second post in a series of 3 posts. To read part 1, go here.

Before I continue with the rest of my story, I want to stop for a moment and talk about my birth plan. Anyone who has been pregnant, or been around a woman nearing the end of her pregnancy, knows that a birth plan can become a really important aspect of the pregnancy. We can really obsess over it and try to think of every scenario that could happen and what we would want in each situation. We become extremely defensive about our birthing plan and very judgmental of others'. I know, because that is exactly how I was.

My birth story: Part 1

The last time I posted on here, I had just entered my 3rd trimester. Well, since a year has passed, it's safe to say I had my baby. There are a lot of things I want to share about my pregnancy and motherhood, and I will. But I want to start it all off by sharing with you my birth story. As it is quite lengthy, it will be divided up into 3 parts.

My birth story actually begins 1 month before I gave birth, when I was 32 weeks along. I went to a routine biweekly doctor's appointment, where my dr. just checked the baby's heartbeat and measured my belly. At this point, I was still pretty small. Until maybe around 28 weeks or so, you wouldn't look at me at say, "She's pregnant." I was stuck at the awkward not-sure-if-pregnant-or-just-has-big-belly stage for a while.

Let's try this again...

Yup. It happened. I had a feeling it might, and it did.

I dropped the ball once again on blogging. I told myself this time would be different. This time, I would be consistent. This time, I would post at least once a week.

And then it happened.

A little more about me...

Anytime I visit a blog, I LOVE to learn about the author. For some reason, I just get more out of content when I actually know who wrote it, and I can put a face to the words. Well, here is my opportunity to lay it all out there, so you can definitely know whose words it is that you are reading.

10 Fun Facts About Me:

  1. I live my life for Jesus Christ! The Savior and Perfector of my soul... curious to find out more about why/what I believe? Just ask!
  2. I am obsessed with "The Vampire Diaries." Team Delena for the win! (This may or may not be a topic of a couple random posts on here.. ha!)
  3. I am a shorty. No, I don't mean shawty, like I'm cool with the crew or anything. I mean a literal shorty. I'm 5'2" and have been pretty much stuck here since like the 2nd grade. My husband is 5'10" so I have an ever-present crank in my neck from always looking up at him.
  4. I am a shoeaholic (not a typo... definitely a SHOEaholic). I can't have enough. The higher the heel, the more the drool! And since my husband is so much taller than I am, I can wear as high as I want!
  5. I have only 1 brother who is about 12 years younger than I am. He makes my heart light up!
  6. My best friend, Diyana (get used to that name), and I have been friends since we were 2 1/2. We lived in the same apartment building since then up until I got married.
  7. I talk in my sleep... A LOT! I usually wake up to a funny story from my husband at least once a week.
  8. My husband likes to tell me I have a VERY loud laugh. I like to think that I pour myself into my laughs.
  9. I LOVE Starbucks. No Coffee Bean for me... 'tis of the devil.
  10. I am 100% Armenian and my ethnicity pretty much affects the way I do things A LOT. And no... we do not like to be associated with the Kardashian sisters who are only Armenian by last name.

My DIY To-Do List

So thanks to Pinterest and some of my favorite blogs, I have rallied up some great DIY projects that I am aspiring to tackle. Since I have never done anything DIY-like before (except in 7th grade when I took an Arts and Crafts class... does that count?), I will be starting off with fairly simple projects to ease my way in. Here are the first few projects on my to-do list:

1) Popsicle Stick Snowflakes

With Christmas right around the corner, this is the perfect and simplest way to ease my way into the DIY world. It will be a fun first project and a very easy way to add some holiday spirit to your home. I have actually started on this project and will post about it soon...

2) DIY Canvas Photos

These are awesome! They seem so easy and inexpensive to make... I'm sure I'll find a way to mess it up! I am planning on making these as Christmas presents for my parents and in-laws with pictures of our families on our wedding day. So we shall see if I can actually pull it off.

3) Wall Art

Again, another wonderful and simple way to add some decor to your home. I have a wall in my living room that is completely bare and I have been trying to fill it with something for the past year and a half. This might be the answer to all my problems!

4) Hanging Jewelry Organizer

Ok, ok... this seems a little on the tougher side. But, hey, if you wanna learn how to swim, you have to jump right in, right? Right? Meh... this may be a dream for me now, but I'm hoping after the experience I gain from these other projects, I will be able to tackle it. I desperately need somewhere to store my jewelry, because as of right now (and pretty much since we got married), my stuff has just been clumped up on one side of my bathroom dresser. So... I will make this. I will make this. I will make this. *positive thoughts*

So as I attempt one project after another, I will chronicle my work, warts and all! Stay tuned!
