A little more about me...

Anytime I visit a blog, I LOVE to learn about the author. For some reason, I just get more out of content when I actually know who wrote it, and I can put a face to the words. Well, here is my opportunity to lay it all out there, so you can definitely know whose words it is that you are reading.

10 Fun Facts About Me:

  1. I live my life for Jesus Christ! The Savior and Perfector of my soul... curious to find out more about why/what I believe? Just ask!
  2. I am obsessed with "The Vampire Diaries." Team Delena for the win! (This may or may not be a topic of a couple random posts on here.. ha!)
  3. I am a shorty. No, I don't mean shawty, like I'm cool with the crew or anything. I mean a literal shorty. I'm 5'2" and have been pretty much stuck here since like the 2nd grade. My husband is 5'10" so I have an ever-present crank in my neck from always looking up at him.
  4. I am a shoeaholic (not a typo... definitely a SHOEaholic). I can't have enough. The higher the heel, the more the drool! And since my husband is so much taller than I am, I can wear as high as I want!
  5. I have only 1 brother who is about 12 years younger than I am. He makes my heart light up!
  6. My best friend, Diyana (get used to that name), and I have been friends since we were 2 1/2. We lived in the same apartment building since then up until I got married.
  7. I talk in my sleep... A LOT! I usually wake up to a funny story from my husband at least once a week.
  8. My husband likes to tell me I have a VERY loud laugh. I like to think that I pour myself into my laughs.
  9. I LOVE Starbucks. No Coffee Bean for me... 'tis of the devil.
  10. I am 100% Armenian and my ethnicity pretty much affects the way I do things A LOT. And no... we do not like to be associated with the Kardashian sisters who are only Armenian by last name.

My DIY To-Do List

So thanks to Pinterest and some of my favorite blogs, I have rallied up some great DIY projects that I am aspiring to tackle. Since I have never done anything DIY-like before (except in 7th grade when I took an Arts and Crafts class... does that count?), I will be starting off with fairly simple projects to ease my way in. Here are the first few projects on my to-do list:

1) Popsicle Stick Snowflakes

With Christmas right around the corner, this is the perfect and simplest way to ease my way into the DIY world. It will be a fun first project and a very easy way to add some holiday spirit to your home. I have actually started on this project and will post about it soon...

2) DIY Canvas Photos

These are awesome! They seem so easy and inexpensive to make... I'm sure I'll find a way to mess it up! I am planning on making these as Christmas presents for my parents and in-laws with pictures of our families on our wedding day. So we shall see if I can actually pull it off.

3) Wall Art

Again, another wonderful and simple way to add some decor to your home. I have a wall in my living room that is completely bare and I have been trying to fill it with something for the past year and a half. This might be the answer to all my problems!

4) Hanging Jewelry Organizer

Ok, ok... this seems a little on the tougher side. But, hey, if you wanna learn how to swim, you have to jump right in, right? Right? Meh... this may be a dream for me now, but I'm hoping after the experience I gain from these other projects, I will be able to tackle it. I desperately need somewhere to store my jewelry, because as of right now (and pretty much since we got married), my stuff has just been clumped up on one side of my bathroom dresser. So... I will make this. I will make this. I will make this. *positive thoughts*

So as I attempt one project after another, I will chronicle my work, warts and all! Stay tuned!

Welcome!

Welcome to my first ever blog post on The Newbie Mommy! I am so honored and thrilled that you stopped by. As the title of this blog suggests, I am a newbie (newb, noob, novice, young grasshopper... take your pick). A newbie at what, you might ask? Oh... you didn't ask? Well, I'll tell ya anyway!

I have been married to my wonderful husband Sako since June 12, 2011 (exactly 1 1/2 years in 6 days!). So, since we are still technically "newlyweds," I am a newb at being a wife. This entails cooking, cleaning, home decór, and all other things wifely.

We are also currently expecting our first baby (YAY!). I am at the beginning of my third trimester and freaking out about this CRAZY new chapter we are about to embark on. I know, I know. I started this blog late in my pregnancy, so chronicling my every vomit and bump update is just something you are going to have to live without. Please forgive me.

And lastly, I have decided I am going to venture uncharted territory... well for me anyway. I am going to start DIY-ing (DIM-ing?... ah who knows!). Mind you. I have never, not once, ever taken on a DIY project. So why start now? Well, I have been scaling the epic seas of, yup, you guessed it, Pinterest. And all the amazing things people make for real cheap has got me thinkin... why not me?

Hence the self-given title "Newbie," although my husband would whole-heartily agree with my choice of self-declaration (*sigh*). That's why I have started this blog. I want to chronicle my journey as a caterpillar and hope to see my progress into a beautiful butterfly, and I would love help in the process! I want to share all the things I learn as a new wife, mom, and DIY-er. And although I may grow and develop into these areas, I will always be nothing but a newb at heart.

*Stay tuned for some picture updates, so you can actually put a face to the craziness!
